Lacy Schiffelbein, M.A.
Interim Elementary Principal
With almost a decade of experience in Christian education, Mrs. Schiffelbein has taught kindergarten through second grade in the southern Maryland area. She has also worked with children with autism and has a background in behavioral therapy. This is her third year at KCA, in which time she has taught first grade, served on the elementary Professional Development & Mentor team, and assisted in strengthening the lower elementary curriculum as a whole, particularly in the area of structured literacy. Mrs. Schiffelbein is passionate and knowledgeable about the science of learning, explicit instruction, and utilizing the link between evidence based research and classroom practices to produce optimal student outcomes. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi and a master’s degree from Alliant International University, achieved while enrolled in a doctoral program, with an interest in neuropsychology. Mrs. Schiffelbein lives here with her husband, who serves in the US Navy, and their four children. She and her family are members of Patuxent Baptist Church.
