MUSIC PERFORMANCE

TAUGHT BY KEVIN GARDINER & CHERYL RALON

Music Performance in the Upper School encompasses a variety of talented student groups, including the Middle School/High School Choir (Ensemble) and the Middle and High School Praise Bands. These groups provide students with opportunities to develop their vocal and instrumental skills in a collaborative and creative environment. Each group meets weekly as part of the elective offerings available to their respective grades, ensuring that students have dedicated time to grow as musicians.

In these ensembles, students refine their technical abilities, explore diverse musical styles, and cultivate an appreciation for the arts that will enrich their lives both during and beyond their school years. The curriculum emphasizes teamwork, musicianship, and performance readiness, fostering confidence and discipline among participants.

The Choir and Praise Bands are integral to the school's community life, regularly showcasing their talents at various events. They contribute to weekly and holiday chapel services, creating meaningful worship experiences through music. Additionally, these groups perform at special occasions such as parent and grandparent appreciation events, school concerts, and other celebrations throughout the academic year.

Through their participation, students not only enhance their artistic abilities but also develop important life skills such as leadership, collaboration, and a deeper connection to their faith and community.

Students who play guitar, bass, piano, drums, or sing may audition for the Praise Bands/Ensemble at the start of the school year or when they first arrive at KCA. Middle school Choir is an elective choice in grades 6, 7 and 8. Please contact Mr. Gardiner, or Mrs. Ralon for further information.
